SWORN TRANSLATION:
This procedure confers legal value to a translation by means of an oath taken in front of a legal Officer. NOTE: in case of a translation of documents between two languages other than Italian (for example a sworn translation from English into French), it is mandatory to add the translation of the document into Italian before the target language. Sworn translation and legalization services require the payment of 1 stamp duty costing 16.00 euro every 4 pages.
LEGALIZATION/APOSTILLE:
It is a procedure by which the legal qualification of the Officer who signed a deed and the authenticity of his/her signature is officially attested. Countries which have signed the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 require an apostille, that is a simplified form of a legalization. NOTE: the original document must be previously legalized/provided with an apostille for the country of destination of the document as well.
